I've had a sore throat for a couple of days and, at first thought I was coming down with a cold. But now I think it is a result of air conditioning and/or pollution. We've had some lovely, warm, sunny days here in Toronto for the past week but the air quality has been deteriorating as the humidity climbs. I haven't really noticed it myself, other than the aforesaid scratchy throat. The A/C at work is set ridiculously high and, while I try to dress for the weather outside, I need a blanket at my desk after 11AM when the coldness really starts to set in. It's like a meat locker in there some days! Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind handing a few of the lawyers upside down by their shoelaces ... LOL
Another form of pollution that really bugs me is noise pollution. You're probably rolling your eyes right about now, thinking to yourselves "Well, she does live downtown Toronto .. DUH!" I'm not talking about the sounds of the City, which I love. I'm talking about the people who get on public transit or an elevator with their music plugged into their ears. Normally, I can't hear anything, which is fine with me. If they want to totally "tune out" to their surroundings, that is their choice. But every once in a while, someone gets on the elevator with the music just BLASTING. It's so loud everyone on the elevator can hear it. I can only imagine what that is doing to their hearing. EGADS! I'm turning into my mother ... :)
